Director of Business Development - Public Sector

Overview
A privately held parking operator is seeking a Director of Business Development – Public Sector to lead the expansion of its public sector parking portfolio. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new parking management contracts with municipalities, universities, airports, and other public institutions nationwide.
This is a newly created role designed for a senior business development professional who thrives in consultative, long-cycle sales environments, understands public procurement, and is motivated by building and shaping a strategic vertical.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a national business development strategy focused on public sector parking opportunities
- Identify upcoming contract opportunities and renewals within municipalities and public institutions
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with public sector stakeholders well in advance of formal RFPs
- Lead the full sales cycle including opportunity qualification, pursuit strategy, RFP coordination, negotiations, and contract execution
- Partner closely with internal operations, marketing, and finance teams to ensure successful onboarding of new accounts
- Maintain involvement with accounts post-award to support retention, expansion, and long-term partnership success
- Represent the organization within relevant industry associations, conferences, and events
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven business development experience within the parking industry or a closely related outsourced services environment
- Demonstrated success selling into municipalities, universities, airports, or similar public institutions
- Strong working knowledge of public procurement processes and RFP-driven sales cycles
- Demonstrated knowledge of self-parking technology and other technology solutions
- Track record of originating and closing net-new business
- Existing public sector relationships strongly preferred
- Stable career history with progressive responsibility

Location and Travel
