Director of Architecture (Central FL)

Our client is a growing multi-disciplined Architectural and Engineering firm that ranks in the nation’s
Top 300 architectural firms by Architectural Record Magazine (2021).

Director of Architecture

The company is seeking a growth oriented Registered Architect with strong organizational,
management, and technical skills to lead our rapidly expanding architectural division
nationwide. The Director will manage all facets of the Architectural division including business
development, client management, resource allocation, workflow optimization and recruiting. The
ideal candidate would have extensive experience successfully managing teams/projects
through programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents,
and construction administration.

Duties Include:

• Oversight and management of firm architectural operations nationwide.
• Partner with senior management to develop and implement division short- and long-term
objectives aligned with company core focus and values.
• Reports directly to senior management with fiduciary responsibilities for the architectural
division.
• Collaboration with firm disciplines, directors, and business development teams.
• Management of clients and national account programs.
• Research, develop and implement best practices to increase productivity and efficiency
of division.
• Oversight and management of division’s workflow including its approach to projects,
preparation of documents, design of construction plans, submittal to agencies having
jurisdiction, and construction services.
• Establish and monitor performance goals for division and adjust as warranted.
• Assist with evaluation, prioritization, and distribution of workload for teams/offices.
• Fulfilling requirements as the firm’s lead Architect for company licensure in multiple
states as needed.
• Fulfilling requirements as Architect of Record for projects in multiple states when
needed.
• Research, interpretation, and implementation of relevant codes and client requirements.
• Travel to perform business development, division management, and client management.
• Oversight and mentoring architectural staff including architects, designers, technicians
and assistants. Includes assisting with compliance of company policies and procedures.
• Assist in planning, developing, coordinating and completing architectural projects.
• Implementation of division quality control.
• Development, negotiation, and review of project contracts including scope, planning,
schedules, and budgets.
• Participation in qualifications package and proposal preparation for business
development.
• Presentations to the public, clients, governing agencies and other organizations.

Requirements:

• Degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited institution. Licensure is required with
ability to obtain additional state licensure through reciprocity a plus.
• 10+ years of US experience in Industrial, Institutional, Commercial, Retail, Restaurants,
Grocery Stores, and/or Office projects.
• Experience in Architectural leadership, management, and personnel development.
• Extensive experience in preparation of accurate architectural presentation, design,
details and construction documents.
• Extensive experience in development, implementation and utilization of REVIT
standards, families, and templates.
• Extensive experience in the preparation of specifications, review of shop drawings, and
performing construction administration support as Architect of Record.
• Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Adobe Suite experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Thorough understanding of project process from concept through construction.
• Ability to consistently exercise good independent judgement in evaluation, selection, and
adaptation/modification of materials, techniques, procedures, and design solutions.
• Effective in providing instruction, teaching, and mentoring in a positive and constructive
manner.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
• Superior social, communication, written and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects while adhering to project
schedules and budgets.
• Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate business development and deadlines.
• Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable, and self-motivated.
