Reporting to the VP Strategic Initiatives, this role for our multi-branded, $4.2B in sales Retail client offers a great opportunity to make an immediate and positive impact by leading and managing key strategic initiatives and analytics. The Director of Strategic Analytics & Planning assumes lead responsibility for in-depth industry analysis for the Strategic Execution and Initiatives Department, creatively analyzing all aspects of our business and collaboratively working on integrated solutions that adapt to our organization’s unique risk profile and methodologies. The Director will guide management strategy in the most profitable directions by providing timely, reliable insights, scenario modeling and transparent and timely reporting, with an emphasis in demographic analysis, to better drive top-line growth, control costs, and reduce risk. This position will provide line-of-business managers with actionable insights through packaged analysis and reporting solutions. The Director requires the technical skills set needed to perform complex analytical duties and the ability to communicate technical information to the management team in a clear and concise format.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Oversees the data infrastructure required to support needs of predictive modeling and analytics.
  • Supports business plan analysis across the enterprise by providing analytic support of strategic plans
  • Owns the management and integrity of analytic database management
  • Performs exploratory data analysis to identify relationships in high-dimensional data
  • Develops models for prediction and forecasting against business plan
  • Facilitates improvements in processes and profit with data and metrics with oversight from executive and upper management
  • Directs project requirements; identifies potential data sources to address business needs; evaluates data collection methods; attributes definitions, sample sizes, any transformations used, and potential sources of error
  • Directs integration with existing analytic data sets—variable mapping, data modeling, update frequency, and storage requirements
  • Owns metadata definition and management (data dictionaries)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education: Four-year college degree (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience); Master’s preferred

Experience: Six years minimum of related experience

Other: Occasional travel required
