Reporting to the COO of a premier privately held LTL transportation organization facilities in the Western and Southern US. The organization operates within 18 terminals with over 250 employees, 140 tractors and 260 trailers and has successfully been in business for over 17 years with an impeccable reputation.

The Director, Sales will be accountable for leading the organization’s Business Development Functions, including Sales, Commercial Strategy through the development and implementation of the sales strategy and communicating the company’s vision and successfully executing the company’s sales objectives. Will be responsible for the development and signing of profitable new business, additional business, and maintaining current accounts. Coordinates complete sales cycle process including prospect list initiation, lead generation, prospect qualification, analysis, pricing, proposal preparation and presentation(s), contract signing, start-up and customer service follow-up after the sale. Must have a strong background in significantly growing an organization with both top and bottom line revenue, increasing density, evaluating current business for increased market share and profitability. Challenge is to increase revenues and maximize profitability for the organization.

Background Required:
  • Progressive career within Less than Truckload Sales
  • Sales Performance Metrics (development, implementation, management and review)
  • Interline and intermediary freight agreements
  • Commercial Responsibility (Contract negotiation, Account Management, C-level Interface)
  • Business planning (annual sales plans, budgeting, financing, forecasting)
  • Pricing and Margin for new business opportunities (RFP/RFQ responses)
  • People processes (Management development, Training, Retention, Succession planning)
  • Time & Territory Management Reporting Processes
  • Residence: Open
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Third Party Logistics knowledgeable
  • Familiarity with information technology applications
  • Education: College Graduate (BA or BS)
