Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President of a national transportation provider that hauls time and temperature-sensitive freight between the Mid-West and the West Coast. With 19 drivers (10 Company & 9 OO), 28 trucks, and 34 trailers operating from 1 location in Grand Rapids.

The Director, Safety and Driver Recruiting leads all aspects of driver recruiting, orientation, training, and retention to recruit 4-6 company drivers per week/month. Ensures all FMCSA regulations are complied with, and logs are audited. Handles all aspects of driver recruitment and retention, including advertising, hiring, orientation, and training. Is liaison between the driver force and operations. Oversees ongoing driver training about evolving safety issues and changes. Handles any accident claims. Develops team members and works with all other departments to create a company-wide safety culture. Develops and executes driver recruiting and retention strategies that support the business goals. Develops driver recruiting process including advertising, application processing, qualifying, testing, and training, and onboarding. Works with operations to develop and implement driver retention strategies. Challenge is to assure compliance of all regulatory requirements and development of one of the safest fleets in the industry. Travel less than 25%.
