Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Risk Management executive for a regional transportation provider.

The Director, Risk Management supervises, assists, and sets overall expectations of the personnel in the Risk Management Dept. Establishes and maintains companywide Risk related processes for exposure and cost mitigation. Coordinates the ongoing education in Risk Management in the areas of professional development, leadership, safety/risk related training, and DOT regulatory practices. Advises and approves litigation and financial authority as needed for claim and insurance purposes. Ensure compliance practices and procedure are met in the areas of controlled substance, Hours of Services, Hazardous Material, Driver Fitness, and Workplace injury or illnesses. Advises Risk Management Manager and Litigations Manager on communication with our work comp insurance company and attorneys pertaining to work comp claims and defense of work comp litigations filed against company. Advises Risk Management Manager on goals and procedures in Hours of Service. Review accident reports, direct special driver action, and advise Accident Claims Manager on any further accident coordination needed. Supervision and strategy coordination on the current goals of the Driver Development Specialist. Review and sign off on various purchase orders. Maintenance of personnel goals and performance evaluations.

Background Required:
  • Transportation (class 8 truck) Safety, Risk or compliance-regulatory (4 yrs.)
  • Commercial liability insurance
  • Litigations, mediation, depositions within transportation
  • Workers comp claims
  • DOT, OSHA
  • Accident-Incident and Injury Investigation and Prevention
  • Driver Qualification, Training and Orientation process
  • Analysis and Development of training materials, to prevent future occurrences
  • Computer Literate (MS Office Suite)
  • Residence: Nashville, TN (relocation assistance)

  • C-TPAT
  • 30b6 witness
  • Safety Audits (i.e., DOT, OSHA & EPA)
  • Education: Bachelors degree (i.e., Business, OSHA, Safety, or related field)
