Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the SVP, Finance for the largest privately-owned bulk petroleum (90%) and liquid chemical (10%) carrier in the country. With $147 million dollars in revenue the company has 500 trucks, 780 drivers, 650 bulk trailers, and 1,100 employees operating from 20 terminals locations in Southeast.
The Director, Pricing leads pricing strategy development to position the business to deliver sustainable, profitable growth. Develops and implements pricing and cost models, processes, and guidelines – for both dedicated and one-way tank truck operations – to ensure the business achieves its price realization and operating margin goals. Manages and analyzes pricing and profitability of strategic-contract accounts and identifies opportunity for improvement. Ensures that pricing and all contract management activities meet or exceed industry norms and corporate guidelines. Provides regular analysis and support to Sales and Operations when developing business volume, price, and market share strategies. Completes regular traffic lane analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and to drive increases in revenue & profitability. Works with finance and operations to identify areas to improve competitiveness and profitability. Trains and develops direct report pricing analyst and supports sales and operations team to ensure their actions are consistent with agreed upon pricing strategies, processes, and guidelines. Maintains, analyzes, and communicates bid price analysis and other competitive intelligence so we understand our price position relative to competition. Provides economic forecasts and analysis for the finance, sales and operations planning process. Uses those projections to forecast future sales growth or decline. Works cross-functionally to effectively and efficiently roll out price increases to sales, operations, and our customers. Leads, develops, and supervises employees, as applicable.

Background Required:
  • Transportation & logistics (5 years)
  • Pricing, cost & profitability analysis
  • Bids & request for proposals (RFP & RFQ)
  • Cost & price all potential new business opportunities
  • Bring consistency to pricing process (lanes, geographical markets segments, Customers)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office Suite; Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) or equivalent
  • Residence: Eastern, NC or Raleigh/Triangle Area
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Liquid bulk industry
  • Logistics-brokerage
  • Worked directly with field sales, customers & prospects
  • Pricing analytics software (SMC3 CIS, SAP Business Objects, Vena, CRM, IBM iSeries-AS400)
  • Develops & coach’s talent
  • Advanced Degree – Master’s degree
