Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Sr. Director for one of the world’s most well-respected International logistics organizations providing global air & ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, express services, customs brokerage and supply chain solutions. Director, International Customs Operations is responsible to support and develop a strong team of international and border customs brokerage professionals and all related departments at the Port Huron location and 4 small Border stations. Will establish, monitor and revise policies, procedures and service standards for station operations and will direct and ensure compliance with established corporate policies, procedures and standards in accordance with government regulations. Will be responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing direct reports, assigning and reviewing work, setting completion dates and managing performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures and performance management processes.

Background Required:
  • Freight forwarding, logistics and/or customs brokerage industry experience (8+ yrs)
  • Strong staff management & leadership (5+ years)
  • Ability to develop, coach, train and mentor staff to success
  • Strong knowledge of US customs brokerage
  • P & L participation & preparation
  • Experienced in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean-Six Sigma) & process improvement projects
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Established standard operating procedures & metrics
  • Business plan preparation and implementation
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Residence: Port Huron, MI (relocation assistance provided)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Customs brokerage license
  • Managed multiple teams within area of expertise
  • CHB training & program development
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
