Director, Emergency Services

Our client is a 760+ bed healthcare facility located in Asheville, North Carolina. The hospital is known for being the region's only Level II trauma center, as well as being home to the only children's hospital in the western portion of the state.

Our client offers a variety of services, including women's services, sports medicine, and neurological care. The hospital's cardiovascular services include the only open heart and interventional cardiology in the region. The quality of the facility's services has earned much recognition, such as being named among the nation's best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics, and Healthgrades.

As the Director of Emergency Services, you will lead the third busiest ER within Hospital. This ER is 90,000 square feet with 94 exam rooms and averages 260 visits/day. They also have their own ground service comprised of 32 ambulances as well as two helicopters for air flight.

As the Director, you will assure service, growth, development, personnel management, and resource allocation and management controls are order to ensure consistent high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow through and communication.
  • Actively participates in service, departmental and hospital wide committees as assigned, providing ongoing communication to those one represents.
  • Advances the patient experience agenda in the Emergency Department.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Master's degree MHA, MSN, MBA, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in emergency services required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
