Our client is a medical services provider with a 180+ bed regional referral center anchoring its offerings. For over 90 years they have provided advanced and innovative medical care to patients in a four-state region spanning more than 14,000 square miles.

They are currently looking for a Director of Coding Service to manage their 20+ coders and take this department to a new level.

The Coding Director has a key role in the strategy, planning, development, implementation and maintenance of coding processes, coding policies, and coding education for HS.
The Coding Director initiates, executes, and manages projects associated with coding initiatives.

JOB DUTIES

·         Directs and manages the team with the development, implementation and maintenance of coding processes, coding policies, and coding education for the health system

·         Assists the VP Finance with coding strategy and planning

·         Manages, leads and is accountable for coding projects, including but not limited to:

·         ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS preparation and implementation

·         Clinical documentation improvement

·         Diagnostic abstracting and physician query software vendor identification, vendor negotiations, vendor selection, implementation planning and execution

·         Internal education development

·         Physician education programs

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

·         Undergraduate degree required; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.

Certificate/License

·         RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS required. I-10 Certified trainer strongly preferred.

Experience

·         Minimum 7 years management experience.

·         Minimum 5 years recent HIM acute care coding experience.
