Director of Verification and Research - Carbon Projects / Greenhouse Gas Verification
Sequence, the industry leader for recruitment of Climate Change and ESG personnel, has been exclusively retained and is currently seeking a Director of Project Verification and Analysis for greenhouse gas and carbon verification.
This is currently the carbon industries highest profile role of its like with one of the two industry leaders. The exposure and access to projects and undertakings is unparalleled.
For this role, we have been specifically tasked by our client to recruit a key individual responsible for evaluating publicly project documentation from various green house gas (GHS) and carbon crediting program (Gold Standard, VCS, CAR, ACR, etc.) and validate and confirm carbon project viability.
Key to this will be review of project claims for additionality, emission reductions (including baseline estimates), project financials, project management, leakage if any, permanence, as well as impact as measured by sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The role is deeply involved in performing additional due diligence efforts and collecting materials to deeply dive into projects. There are also occasional site visits or coordinate of partners to projects for verification efforts.
This effort is an opportunity to actively participate in the promotion of carbon emission reducing projects for some of the world’s most notable organizations seeking to offset their requirements. Beyond being visible and active in various initiatives and organizations related to voluntary carbon markets, this role is a key internal contributor to management activities with opportunity to move to executive leadership within the organization.
The ideal individual would have several years experience working with project review and verification, having visited carbon emission reduction projects and/or having reviewed detailed materials for verification. Additionally, they would be well versed in carbon market standards and methodologies used when creation carbon emission reductions. A general understanding of availability of issued credits as well as carbon credit pricing is also useful.
This could be the ideal position for a mid-level professional with several years of proven experience with carbon and greenhouse gas seeking to progress upward within an organization.
It could also be a good role for a more senior level professional that is looking to find a stable and long-term home with an organization.
