Job Impulse is looking for an experienced Die Maker to work for our client in Rochester Hills, MI. The DIE MAKER is responsible for maintaining, repairing, setting up, and improving stamping and press dies to ensure they perform effectively and consistently in production. This role combines technical maintenance work with hands-on setup, tryout, and continuous improvement activities to maximize tooling reliability, product quality, and operational safety.

Pay Rate: $35-$38 per hour, based on experience.

1st Shift

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Perform Maintenance, setup, and repair of stamping dies.

• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on stamping dies.

• Provide support to production during die setup and troubleshooting.

• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble dies as needed.

• Perform die setups and tryouts to ensure proper alignment and functionality.

• Adjust die components for optimal performance and quality.

• Replace worn or damaged parts and ensure proper clearances.

• Analyze and implement tooling improvements.

• Assist in the evaluation of production problems due to tooling design or condition and propose solutions.

• Collaborate with the Engineering Team to implement improvements and verify results through testing.

• Monitor and validate the performance of modified dies.

• Documentation and knowledge transfer.

• Record maintenance, setup, and modification activities in tooling logs.

• Maintain accurate records of tooling life and performance.

• Share technical expertise and support continuous improvement initiatives within the tooling team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

o Technical Education in Mechanics, Molds and/or Tools.

o Minimum of 7 years of experience in maintenance, repair and setup of stamping dies.

o Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive manufacturing.

o English (fluent), French (preferred).

Skills and Knowledge:

o Strong knowledge of precision progressive dies and press die systems.

o Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings (GD&T)

o Proficiency in die setup, alignment, and tryout procedures.o Familiarity with machining, grinding, and precision measurement tools.

o Ability to troubleshoot and perform precision maintenance on stamping die components.

o Knowledge of reel-to-reel process and strip feeders.

o Knowledge of general toolroom machines.

o Able to set punches and adjust forms.
