OUR CLIENT is a leading developer and builder of Community Solar and utility-scale solar projects throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. The Solar Development Manager will develop solar projects in targeted regions, through identification of suitable sites and coordination of interconnection, zoning, and permitting activities as well as managing due diligence efforts. This individual will also focus on forging relationships with landowners, community leaders, utilities, environmental organizations, and financiers.

Essential Job Functions:

 Develop viable and economically sustainable new and existing solar projects
 Manage development activities of solar energy projects from feasibility to the start of construction
 Manage the zoning, permitting, land rights entitlements, and compliance processes
 Secure capacity for projects in state regulated community solar programs
 Interface with and direct third-party consultants, engineers, and legal professionals to achieve development goals
 Assess properties in target markets using proprietary tools and GIS/satellite technology
 Maintain database of target parcels, utility details, and local/county planning and zoning information
 Engage with property owners, community leaders, and environmental organizations to provide information throughout the development process
 Analyze project financials, including budgets and rates of return
 Create scope of work and ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget
 Adhere to quality and environmental regulations
 Represent our client within industry advocacy groups and educate communities on the benefits of solar.
 Support energy Power Purchase Agreement and project sale negotiations
 This role will have significant overall responsibility for managing the development of a Community Solar portfolio.

Requirements:

 Skilled in project management with the ability to identify and resolve potential project flaws and to prioritize critical path tasks.
 General understanding of renewable energy market trends and the resulting impacts on solar project development.
 Self-motivated and able to work effectively individually as well as with a team
 Ability to thrive in quickly changing environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
 Ability to do limited overnight business travel
 Outgoing customer focus
 Excellent problem-solving ability
 Strong analytical skills
 Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SmartSheets, and Zoho, Salesforce or equivalent CRM
 Knowledge of online GIS tools, such as GeoThinq
