Vendor Relations

  • Lead negotiations with vendors; determine margin and margin guarantees for Fall/ Spring seasons
  • Partner with Buyers to approve merchandise assortments and identify/select promotional items and buy-out opportunities
  • Work with Buying team on end-of-month season reconciliations
  • Manage returns/markdown dollar agreements


  • Plan and execute seasonal, monthly and weekly advertising strategies for major sales and events
  • Negotiate advertising co-op dollar with vendors
  • Approve buyer items to be included in ads
  • Work with Buyers to ensure in-stock positioning for advertised goods
  • Partner with advertising on in-season promotional vehicles (catalogs, mailers, inserts)

Business Planning / Analysis

  • Collaborate with Buyers to create 6-month business plans for Fall/ Spring seasons
  • Manage department(s) open-to-buy; partner with Company President to manage it and/ or modify as needed
  • Plan business to achieve planned goals including stock turn, sales results and margin goals; adapt throughout the season as needed
  • Constantly review results; look for opportunities to maximize trends as well as adjust to down-trending business

People Development

  • Provide timely feedback and coaching to nurture team while addressing any performance issues
  • Prepare staff to take on new responsibilities as appropriate; assist with their growth and development


  • Ensure merchandise is available and accessible for online and buy online pick up in store purchases
  • Work with E Commerce team on category advertising and special promotions


  • Communicate and partner with stores on big ideas and items for Fall/ Spring season
  • Ensure stores receive signage and plan-o-grams and understand department flow and adjacencies

Business Partnerships

  • Communicate and collaborate with cross-functional senior management members
  • Represent the Company positively with all constituent groups (vendors, coworkers, the public)
  • Always operate with high integrity when representing the Company
