Job Description

The Diesel Mechanic is tasked with diagnosing and performing preventive maintenance on heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. This role encompasses inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various systems, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems. Additionally, the Diesel Mechanic supports all mechanical repair and maintenance aspects of vehicles, machinery, equipment, and facilities.

Shop Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct repairs and scheduled preventive maintenance services.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Work independently under limited supervision, following established procedures and written instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with Company and OSHA standards, adhering to established safety procedures.
  • Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Perform annual safety checks on vehicles.
  • Complete necessary paperwork using fleet maintenance software, documenting parts usage and repair times.
  • Assist other mechanics with project work.
  • Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Possession of active applicable certificates, licenses, or registrations is advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background check.
  • Proficient in motor coordination with finger dexterity and capable of handling heavy objects throughout the workday.
  • Willingness to work in environments involving physical occupational risks and elements such as dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes.
  • Eligibility to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Regularly involves sitting, using hands, reaching, and talking or hearing.
  • Occasional standing and walking required.
  • Frequently lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus are necessary.
  • Some regional travel may be necessary.
