Position: DB Combo Pension Consultant/Actuary (Remote)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Pension Consultant with a minimum of five years in the pension industry, specializing in Defined Benefit and Combo Plans. In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of approximately 85 retirement plans, managing all aspects of plan administration while fostering strong client relationships. Proficiency with ASC is highly advantageous.

The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of pension and retirement plan administration, along with exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. A commitment to delivering superior customer service is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service, including problem-solving.
  • Assist the client with all initial and ongoing plan design and document support.
  • Responsible for almost all aspects of actuarial valuation reports, participant statements, Annual funding notice, and AFTAP preparation.
  • Review or perform the annual testing for plans, including ADP/ACP, Top Heavy, 410(b), 415, 401(a)(4), 401(a)(26), deductibility, and 402(g).
  • Prepare benefit calculations and review distribution paperwork.
  • Prepare and review Form 5500, draft Schedule SB for an actuary, and coordinate with the plan sponsor to help ensure timely filing.
  • Prepare PBGC termination filing.
  • Assist auditors if a plan is subject to an annual audit.
  • Plan design for existing and potential new clients.
  • Research technical and regulatory issues related to client’s plans.
  • Maintain a positive and proactive relationship with clients and contacts, including plan upkeep and advising clients on technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Continue education through webcasts and ASPPA exams.

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of ERISA defined benefit and defined contribution experience in a TPA environment.
  • Experience in analysis of financial data required.

Skills Required:

  • Doing actuarial valuations and calculations for actuary to sign off on.
  • Defined Benefit/Cash Balance Plan experience required.
  • QPA, QKA, CPC, and/or actuarial exam progress preferred.
  • Experience in ASC software desirable.
  • Strong Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
