The Cytotechnologist will examine and interpret gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens accurately and efficiently, following established laboratory procedures.

  • Issue final diagnosesfor negative GYN cytology cases; submit all non-GYN results for pathologist review and final report release.
  • Verify specimen acceptability and patient identificationthroughout all processing stages.
  • Maintain quality control (QC), proficiency testing, and CLIA/DHMH compliancedocumentation in a timely and organized manner.
  • Assist with fine needle aspiration (FNA)procedures—prepare and stain slides for evaluation.
  • Accurately input test requests and results into Cernerwhile maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Proactively expand your technical knowledge and participate in continuing education.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with pathologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, contributing to a collaborative lab culture.

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of cytology or related clinical laboratory experience.
  • Certification: Cytologist (ASCP)
