Our client, a privately-held, well-established company, is seeking a Customer Service Representative / Assistant Dispatcher reporting to the Operations Supervisor. This role supports a busy dispatch and customer service operation, serving as a central communication point for customers, drivers, and internal staff. The position combines customer interaction, scheduling, routing support, and real‑time operational coordination. Success in this role requires strong multitasking ability, calm decision‑making, and consistent communication throughout the day. Flexibility to cover occasional evening shifts (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) during team PTO is a critical requirement.
Key Responsibilities

Answer customer calls, emails, and service inquiries

Schedule pickups, deliveries, and special service requests

Assist with daily routing and driver communication

Monitor driver progress and respond to delays or route changes

Maintain accurate service logs, customer records, and dispatch reports

Resolve billing questions, service issues, and missed pickups

Communicate service updates to residential, commercial, and municipal contacts

Enter work orders and update dispatch software in real time

Provide administrative support to the dispatch team

Occasionally provide shift coverage for evening dispatcher during PTO (3:00 PM–11:30 PM)
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED (some college preferred)

1–3 years of experience in operations, transportation, or related fields (preferred)

Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word

Strong communication and conflict‑resolution skills

Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving abilities

Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Flexibility to work occasional evening shifts (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) when coverage is required
