Crop Trial Associate (Seasonal Home-base Position)

Our client contracts with numerous players within the crop protection industry for short-term/seasonal projects (2-5 month terms). The intention of each project is to manage demonstration crop trial products between April and November. As such, to be proactive for the next growing season, our client seeks individuals interested joining their database list of qualified contractors (with option to decline).

As per each assignment, you would be required to work with their client's Territory Manager liaison and grower cooperators to discuss trial protocol, requirements, and data collection. You would likely manage a cluster of up to 5-6 plots within a 150 km radius of your home. As contracts and clients change, it would vary which company you'd represent per contract.

What would you be doing?
  • Managing a cluster of up to 5-6 plots within a 150 km radius of your home
  • Recruit growers from a provided list (pre-arranged) or your own network to participate in the trial
  • Secure appropriate completed trialing agreements before planting and seed transfer
  • Secure data and content from plots as per protocol
  • Provide feedback and photographic evidence of compromised trials
  • Follow protocols regarding staking sites, labeling strips, and detailed diagrams
  • Setup/remove signage and flags
  • Complete paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion as required
  • Collect data, assessments, and observations of field and crops as per protocol
  • Provide on-site assistance for field operations (planting, spraying & harvest) as required

To be successful, you offer:
  • Ability to relate to farmers with knowledge of agriculture industry

  • Strong agricultural production acumen; particularly with the specific crop trialed
  • B.Sc in agriculture or agronomy background an asset
  • Desire to help growers and retailers develop strategies to improve their operations and practices
  • Good computer skills; ready access to a computer, email, fax/scanner
  • Detail focused
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Comfort meeting with farmers and retailers
  • A Canadian Social Insurance Card
