As a growing company, they are looking for a Controls Project Manager to oversee the installation and engineering of automation projects, manage subcontractors, develop project schedules, and ensure high standards of operational commissioning.
Overview:
The Controls Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end management of automation projects, ensuring smooth installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of control systems. This role will require active collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and clients, as well as effective budget and schedule management to meet project goals and deliver profitability. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in HVAC automation, project management, and system integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate project schedules and facilitate engineering/programming to manage specific project installations.
- Develop bills of material, actuator, and valve schedules as necessary.
- Procure all temperature controls materials for designated projects.
- Develop scope of work and coordinate with subcontractors such as equipment start-up technicians, electricians, and air/water balancers.
- Regularly interface with project teams, customers, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical and control system issues.
- Track project budgets and schedules, providing projections for budget status.
- Ensure installation standards and processes are followed to maximize project profitability.
- Facilitate field commissioning of control system programming, integrations, and operability.
- Support the development of BAS customer interface features, including graphics, alarming, and trending.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in HVAC automation.
- Bachelor’s degree or extensive experience in installation and programming.
- Strong understanding of mechanical HVAC systems and automation protocols (e.g., BACnet, LONworks, Modbus).
- Proficient in Tridium, Trane Tracer TU/SC, or Distech, and a solid understanding of control system architectures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professionalism, tact, and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance.
Working Conditions:
- The role may require standing, walking, sitting, handling tools or controls, and climbing stairs and ladders to access equipment.
- Must be able to lift or move office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
- Willingness and ability to drive to business appointments and job sites within Ohio.
- Must be able to open mechanical equipment and visually inspect operations following safety requirements and training.
