Controls Field Service Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Controls Field Service Engineer to join our well-established company with over 40 years of excellence in designing, installing, and servicing control systems and electronic drives. This position requires direct interaction with our customers and the candidate will be responsible for on-site installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems and related equipment such as PLCs, Motor Drives, and Variable Frequency Drives. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented professionals who can manage workflows efficiently while driving customer satisfaction and ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Salary: Starting at $55,000 to $80,000 per year with potential additional annual earnings of $10K to $15K through overtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform field service and troubleshooting tasks to resolve technical issues related to control systems and electronic drives.
  • Carry out installations and commissioning of PLC-based setups at different sites across the NJ/NYC area.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks and calibration of various drive types and control systems.
  • Utilize process control software and tools to analyze and enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures, while minimizing downtime and equipment failures.
  • Facilitate customer training on equipment maintenance and operation, assisting clients in achieving optimal usage of their installed systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all service activities performed, including detailed service reports and replacement parts utilized.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen residing within the commuting distance of the Hanover, New Jersey area.
  • Good driving record necessary as the role includes a company vehicle for site visits.
  • 18-month technical certification or an Associates Degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with PLCs, HMI setup, Motor Controls, and related electronic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Minimum 2 years of field service or relevant industry experience.
  • High proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical and electronic schematics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Increased preference given to candidates with specialized training in variable frequency drives and complex control networks.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing field service role.
  • Proficiency in using electronic diagnostic tools and software pertinent to control systems maintenance.
  • Advanced communication skills to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to non-technical individuals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
