Controls & Integration Engineer (CNC / Manufacturing)

Overview

A leading precision manufacturing organization is seeking a Controls & Integration Engineer to support advanced CNC machining operations. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving machine control systems, as well as supporting the integration of new equipment and technologies within a production environment.

This is a hands-on engineering role working at the intersection of CNC machining, electrical controls, and industrial automation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, modify, and support CNC machine control programs
  • Troubleshoot and maintain CNC equipment, PLC systems, and associated controls
  • Support integration and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment
  • Work with servo systems, drives (VFDs), and digital/analog I/O
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve machine performance and reliability
  • Assist in developing and maintaining control standards and documentation
  • Support data integrity and backup systems for machine programs and controls
  • Provide technical guidance on equipment upgrades and control system improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, automation, or machine controls

Required Skills

  • Experience with PLC programming (ladder logic preferred)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Experience working with CNC machines and machine tool controls
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with servo systems, VFDs, and industrial control components

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Fanuc or similar CNC control systems
  • Background in precision machining or aerospace manufacturing environments
  • Experience with machine integration, installation, or upgrades
  • Basic knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet, machine connectivity)
  • CAD experience for electrical schematics (2D/3D a plus)
