Industrial Controls Engineer


Job purpose

This position works on projects for automating clients’ processes and internal production projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Socially responsible and ethical conduct: act with honesty and integrity, support human rights and the community, and protect the environment.
  • Programming knowledge, including:
    • Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
    • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Experience with design and startup of electrical controls automation systems.
  • Experience with equipment integration.
  • Experience with creating schematics.

Essential Functions

  • Attendance during scheduled work hours is an essential function of the job.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand the requirements and scope of automation projects.
  • Demonstrate proposed ideas; modify based on feedback and simulation results.
  • Design and develop automation prototypes.
  • Construct, configure, test, and debug automation.
  • Ensures that automation machines operate safely, dependably, and with precision; identify and implement modifications.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting services for clients’ automation systems, including occasionally travelling to clients’ sites.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement enhancements and improvements to increase production volume or precision in high-throughput operations.
  • Maintain documentation of development process, modifications, maintenance requirements, and other data.
  • Create cost estimates and project calculations.
  • Maintain knowledge of existing and developing technology and trends in automation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Travel 5%
    • Occasionally travel is outside of the local area and overnight
    • Occasionally travel is international
