Job Purpose
Develop, test, and debug Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Robot, & Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs for automated equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
Controls Engineer performs a wide range of duties such as:
- Investigate and resolve issues associated with assembly automation, workstations, robotics, and automated equipment
- Test new programs for reliability and safety with automation equipment
- Troubleshoot issues with hardware and processes
- Oversee customer installations to ensure success and provide guidance and support
- Review other engineers work and providing constructive feedback
- Manage purchase requests and work with vendors to source components
- Perform robot simulations
- Must be well versed in machine controls and have good mechanical aptitude
- Create documentation for automation equipment
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with project management, mechanical engineers, and shop technicians for design and build support
- Maintain quality and safety procedures
- Perform and assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to teach less experienced engineers while maintaining a positive work environment
- Ability to read and edit electrical and mechanical schematics
- Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs, Robots, and HMIs required
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
- Experience in manufacturing, controls engineering, or related field required
- Valid driver’s license and have or be able to acquire a valid passport
- Motivated with strong interpersonal skills
