Controller

Our nonprofit client is workforce development organization. Through industry-driven training programs, they connect people to family-wage careers while helping employers build the workforce they need to succeed. They are seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to join our leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial strategy.
• Oversee accounting operations including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Manage grant and contract compliance, reporting, and audits across federal, state, and private funding sources.
• Prepare and present financial statements, variance analyses, and reports.
• Strengthen internal controls, risk management practices, and financial policies.
• Lead annual audits, tax filings, and compliance with GAAP and Uniform Guidance requirements.
• Improve financial systems, processes, and organizational infrastructure.
• Supervise and mentor finance and administrative staff while fostering a collaborative, mission-driven culture.
• Partner with program leaders and development staff on budgeting, financial planning, and grant proposal support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Progressive accounting and financial leadership experience, ideally within nonprofit, grant-funded, or mission-driven organizations.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and internal controls.
• Experience managing federal and state grants, compliance requirements, and funder reporting.
