JOB SUMMARY:
The Controller should be experienced in all aspects of financial management, including partnership, corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. This role will make key accounting policy decisions and ensure compliance with those policies. This role will partner with all other parts of the business to ensure that financial reporting impacts are appropriately considered in conjunction with strategic business decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/OBJECTIVES
- Responsible for monthly consolidation and preparation of financial statements, including validation and elimination of intercompany activity, accounting for investments, joint ventures and other non-controlling interests
- Review journal entries and reconciliations relating to intercompany transactions, goodwill and intangible assets, minority interest and joint venture activity
- Ensure that financial records are maintained in compliance with US GAAP and with internal policies and procedures
- Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with established best practices
- Benchmark peer companies on accounting practices and to help identify best practices
- Responsible for the coordination of the external audit of the Company’s financial statements including but not limited to preparing support schedules and managing open/action item lists pertaining to the audit
- Assist with the preparation and review of quarterly and annual external filings and reporting submissions
- Review and consolidate accounting information, including preparation and review of consolidated balance sheet and income statement analytics
- Manage and oversee the monthly financial close process and all aspects of the general ledger
- Overall management of all accounting operations and ensure personnel are staying on top of required tasks
- Develop & implement the documentation of company accounting policies
- Manage all compensation plans, that include bonus and commission calculations
- Partner with business leaders to identify and evaluate the accounting impacts of proposed transactions
- Train and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product
- Assist with ad-hoc projects

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS/SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting
- CPA preferred
- 5+ years of Accounting / Accounting Management experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, and prefer a minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Knowledge of multi-state tax accounting & reporting
- Understanding of internal control policies and procedures
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with financial statement preparation for all types of legal entities
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
