Controller

Our client is a world-class manufacturer for the aviation, space, defense, industrial, and motorsport markets, providing superior parts and performance for over 50 years. Their design and material capabilities, and complete performance solutions has led them to become a top supplier across the globe. Owned and run by a third-generation engineer, designer and manufacturer, they are seeking an experienced Controller.

Position overview

The Controller will report directly to the Executive Vice President with a dotted line to the fractional CFO. They will provide finance and accounting leadership to help the Company achieve its profit and growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on responsibility for day-to-day general ledger accounting including inventory and fixed assets, account reconciliations and payroll processing.
  • Oversight of the A/P and A/R processes including the direct management and development of an A/R and A/P Accountant.
  • Manage the complete monthly close and financial statement preparation process in the accounting system in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Prepare the monthly financial reporting package to present to the CFO and Ownership.
  • Develop and maintain efficient, GAAP-compliant controls, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure the organization complies with federal, state, and local regulations and filings, including state and local taxes.
  • Oversee cash management, including timely collections, disbursements, cash flow planning and overseeing the banking relationship.
  • Lead the annual financial statement Review and tax preparations processes with the outside CPA firm.
  • Develop/maintain a set of financial & operational planning and analysis metrics/KPI’s and report on them with leadership on a regular basis (margins, productivity, process constraints, etc.)
  • Own the annual and recurring budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Maintain a system of accounting policies and procedures. Consistently act to make processes more efficient and effective in concert with achieving company objectives.
  • Act as Administrator of the company’s Accounting system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA, CMA or MBA with a concentration in Accounting/Finance nice to have.
  • At least 5 years of experience acting in a Controllership level position at a $20M + company required.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated and recent hands-on accounting experience in a manufacturing, inventory or project-based industry required.
  • Demonstrated experience reporting on the financial performance of a company to a CFO/Ownership or other leadership group required.
