Controller

Calling all experienced Accountants and / or Controllers in the Newmarket area! Our client is a interprovincial, locally respected contractor with 50 years of proven success and stability! This team is focused on high profile institutional, commercial, and industrial construction projects and is currently looking for a Controller with 8+ years of finance experience to join their team! This position is a full-time, inhouse role without the option for remote or hybrid at this time.

Requirements:

- CPA is required

- Accounting degree and/or diploma from accredited institution strongly preferred

- Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in an Accounting / Controller position

- Intermediate Level of Excel required

- Jonas Software experience is a bonus (Willing to train)

- Strong analytical and organization skills

Responsibilities:

-Plan, organize & direct the period close process including preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements

-Ensure compliance with established internal controls, including approval requirements with a keen eye toward cost control and accuracy

-Own and maintain process & controls documentation, including financial policies

-Ensure integrity of financial data and systems

-Ensure management of general ledger

-Participation in annual audit

-Complete and review month-end reconciliations and budget variance analyses

-Manage cash flow

-Participate in the creation of new processes to streamline cross-functional workloads and find opportunities to enhance efficiencies with existing processes

-Provide financial recommendations & ideas when new business initiatives are proposed

Assist as needed with:

-General reporting

-Data Entry

- Payroll

- Bank reconciliations

- Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable
