Controller

ABOUT THE ROLE:

A growing organization is looking for a Controller responsible for managing time and billing, financial reporting, payroll and HR administration, vendor relationships, and oversight of accounts receivable and payable. This position combines strong technical accounting skills with an operational mindset to improve systems, processes, and internal controls.

CONTROLLER

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Work Environment: Hybrid (Downtown, 2-3 days per week)

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee general accounting operations, including general ledger, monthly close, reconciliations, and financial accuracy.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports; support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Coordinate with external accountants and support year-end close, tax filings, and audits.
• Manage timekeeping, billing, invoicing, collections, and revenue tracking; supervise A/R and A/P staff.
• Oversee payroll processing, employee compensation, onboarding/offboarding, benefits, and HR records.
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, performance, and costs.
• Improve systems, processes, and internal controls; support system implementations and upgrades.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of accounting or finance experience, including leadership experience.
• Experience with financial reporting, time and billing, payroll, and professional services environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, billing, collections, and cash flow management.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
