Your New Company:

Our client is an award-winning design-build firm that specializes in providing architecture, engineering, and project management consulting services. They are a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business with offices in the Pacific Northwest and in the Southeast. They’re hiring a Controller to report to the President and partner with the COO and other senior management.

We are looking for someone with the following experience/capabilities:

  • 8+ years of relevant GAAP experience, including experience in a supervisory role. Construction accounting experience as a plus.
  • BS in accounting, finance, or related area is required, CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.
  • Must have a history of good tenure with previous employers.
  • Must have great attention to detail and organization.
  • Experience with Deltek Ajera accounting software.
  • Experience with company using Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS)

Duties would include:

  • Oversee general accounting and financial operations including the monthly close.
  • Manage the monthly financial statement preparation, consolidation and reporting process.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
  • Manage weekly and biweekly multi-state in-house payroll processing.
  • Manage the team to ensure timely and accurate completion of AP payment processing, AR submissions and reconciliations. Provide back up for critical accounting functions.
  • Create and maintain a strong system of internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets and actual expenses.
  • Prepare all non-payables/receivables journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, including cash.
  • Act as the main liaison with the CPA firm for the company’s annual financial statement audit and tax preparation.
  • Manage the process of developing the annual firm operating budget and budgets key departments.
  • Provide leadership and support to department personnel through coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Manage performance review process including review of performance goals for staff.
  • Assist operations personnel with ad hoc reports, cost review, billing, and forecasting.
  • Run point on internal projects within established deadlines while maintaining normal workload.
  • Act as the internal system administrator for the accounting system, Deltek Ajera. Work to create efficiencies in the system and across other operational systems.
  • Create an ongoing project/job costing infrastructure and manage the recurring reporting of job profitability.
  • Play a role in defining and honing the company’s incentive compensation structure.
