We are looking for a Controller to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.
Our client is seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations within a small, growing organization. This hybrid role is based in Gahanna, OH and is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys owning the full accounting lifecycle, building processes, and partnering directly with leadership to support business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, and payroll oversight
- Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes with accuracy and efficiency
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analysis for leadership
- Develop, improve, and maintain accounting processes and internal controls
- Cash flow management, forecasting, and budgeting support
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with external partners including CPA firms, auditors, and tax advisors
- Support operational and strategic decision‑making through financial insights
- Handle ad‑hoc projects typical of a small business environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a small or mid‑sized business
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and full‑cycle accounting
- Prior experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role
- Comfortable being hands‑on while also providing leadership and direction
- Experience with accounting systems and strong Excel skills
- CPA preferred but not required
