Job Description

Very well established aerospace and manufacturing company located in the Los Angeles County Gateway cities region of CA. As a subsidiary of a very large global company, the company specializes in producing nuclear commercial, aerospace and gas turbine parts for international industry sectors in aerospace, power systems, energy and civil defense respectively.

Requirements & Qualifications:
The company is seeking a Controller with Aerospace, Defense or Manufacturing experience with the following background and skills. Management experience of a team of 8 or more is required.
· Minimum of seven years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least two years in a leadership role.

· Proficiency in standard costing systems, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

· Experience with large ERP systems like Oracle, SAP or PeopleSoft. Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

· Excellent organizational, time management, and project planning abilities.

· Strong analytical problem-solving skills and solution-oriented mindset.

· Ability to effectively prioritize and manage a heavy workload.

· Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s Degree in Business Administration from an accredited institution.

· Experience in the Aerospace industry is preferred but not a must

· Knowledge of SOX compliance and controls.

Overview of Responsibilities:
In this roles the Controller will play a key role in overseeing the financial management of assigned business units, ensuring the protection of assets and strict adherence to regulatory and corporate reporting and accounting standards. This position aims to optimize the return on financial assets while supporting the achievement of annual growth targets for revenue and EBIT.

This is achieved through internal growth initiatives, precise financial reporting, variance analysis, and financial insights. The Controller ensures transactional accuracy across various functional areas, establishes and oversees the accounting, analysis, and reporting processes required to meet deadlines, and leads special projects that support company growth and market expansion.

· Managing a team of 10-15 staffing members fostering a safe, productive, and rewarding work environment for department staff.

· Translate financial and strategic data into actionable insights, delivering high-impact recommendations and presentations for management decision-making.

· Collaborate with business unit leadership to set goals for sales, profitability, productivity, inventory, variable costs, delivery, working capital, and quality.

· Analyze and prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including consolidated financials, flash reports, closing summaries, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), inventory/working capital analysis, and other critical reports to aid decision-making.

· Provide strategic financial analysis and support to internal stakeholders.

· Assist in financial forecasting and bridging activities with business unit leadership.

· Contribute to the development of the annual business plan.

· Align and track business performance in relation to monthly, quarterly, and annual objectives.

· Advise business unit managers on the financial implications of their decisions and suggest strategies to enhance financial outcomes.

· Develop a deep understanding of business unit drivers and recommend performance improvements.

· Review and analyze monthly forecasts and annual plans, offering insights into any deviations.

· Lead process improvement initiatives to achieve world-class performance.

· Build, maintain, and refine models forecasting performance under different economic conditions and market scenarios.

· Set and drive financial performance targets through business and competitor analysis, along with external benchmarking.

· Evaluate capital requests based on strategic alignment and financial potential.

· Collaborate with Corporate, Segment, Division, and Business Unit management for ad-hoc and ongoing analysis.

· Actively participate in business reviews, contributing to brainstorming sessions aimed at growth and profit improvement.

· Establish a network across corporate and business unit functions to streamline data gathering processes.

· Support special projects and conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to assist management in making informed decisions.

· Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations, in addition to company policies and procedures.

· Implement and continuously refine the daily performance management system.

· Lead and mentor department staff by providing coaching, clear communication, delegation, and accountability. Foster a team-oriented environment to enhance staff engagement and motivation.

· Promote financial literacy and understanding within the finance and operations teams, encouraging the use of financial tools and metrics to boost profitability.
