As the organization continues to grow, they are seeking a Controller to help improve the days to day accounting function and help with strategic decision-making.

Summary

Reporting to the COO, the Controller will be responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This individual will oversee the monthly close process, maintain a strong internal control environment, and partner with leadership to improve financial processes, budgeting, forecasting, and business reporting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys building scalable processes, leveraging technology to automate manual tasks, and supporting a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure the timely preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Maintain the general ledger, account reconciliations, and overall integrity of the company's financial records.
  • Develop, implement, and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes, improve workflows, and enhance the use of technology to increase efficiency.
  • Partner with the COO & FP&A to improve budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial reporting.
  • Develop meaningful KPI reporting, dashboards, and management reporting to support business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements.

Ideal Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or life sciences space
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience leading the month-end close and managing accounting operations.
  • Proven success improving processes, implementing automation, and building scalable accounting functions.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
