Job Description

Our Client, a multi-service Inuit organization provides cultural, educational, recreational and social support services to children, youth and families of Ottawa’s growing Inuit community. They seek a Controller to oversee the accounting tasks and contribute to their mission of supporting the indigenous community.

As Controller, you will supervise the accounts and general ledger chart, providing all necessary financial statements. You will manage the implementation of economic policies, procedures, and systems of internal controls to ensure the appropriate distribution of funds through the GL. You will assist the Director of Finance in performing internal audits and preparing all working papers for annual audits. You will provide the administrative assistant leadership in submitting timely and accurate financial documentation and tasks necessary for accounting system upkeep and reporting. You will promptly prepare and file government remittances (EHT, WSIB, HST) and annual returns. You will provide program managers with regular funding balance spending updates and communicate fund allocation instructions to the finance team on a regular and reliable basis while adhering to all contractual obligations specified in contribution agreements and meeting all funding commitments.

The Ideal Candidate will have a post-secondary education in business administration and accounting with a designation (CMA, CMA, CPA) and a minimum of 3 years of experience. The candidate will have effective written and oral communication knowledge of accounting and related systems such as Simply Accounting, Sage, Ceridian Payroll, RBC Express and online banking. The successful candidate will function effectively in a high-stress, high-noise environment and demonstrate stress resistance and stamina in addressing multiple demands.
