Controller

Our professional services client in Kent, WA is looking for a Controller to lead their finance and accounting and partner with the executive team in their fast paced business. If you are curious, a natural problem solver, and embrace change, this may be the role for you!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial statements, tax filings, and management reporting, ensuring leadership has clear visibility into company performance.
• Oversee month-end close, financial analysis, sales tax filings, and commission reporting, with a focus on translating financial results into operational insight.
• Direct core accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, and bank reconciliations.
• Establish, document, and enforce fiscal policies, internal controls, and operating disciplines in partnership with executive leadership.
• Ensure effective utilization and continuous improvement of financial and business systems across the organization.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts, aligning financial plans with operational goals and strategic priorities.
• Monitor revenue, margins, labor, and operating expenses, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve profitability and cash flow.
• Provide forward-looking financial insight to support pricing decisions, capacity planning, capital investment, and growth initiatives.
• Develop short- and long-term financial projections that support enterprise decision-making and scalability.
• Partner closely with Operations, Sales, Project Management, Warehouse, and Administrative teams to drive financial discipline and operational effectiveness.
• Serve as the primary financial liaison with lenders, auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory entities.
• Oversee external audits and reviews, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional execution.
• Partner with Operations to manage equipment, vehicle, and facility leases and other long-term commitments.
• Oversee credit policy, approve customer credit applications, and maintain accountability for collections performance.
• Actively manage working capital, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity to support business stability and growth.
• Participate as a trusted member of the leadership team, contributing beyond functional finance topics.
• Translate financial data into clear, actionable guidance for non-financial leaders.
• Uphold the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and leadership presence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of GAAP
• Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
• Cash flow management
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.

Compensation up to $160k plus bonus. MDV, 401(k) with 4% match, unlimited PTO.
