Controller
Our client is a dynamic holding company overseeing a diverse group of established small businesses. We are seeking an entrepreneurial Controller to serve as the "Financial Architect" for the organization. This isn't just a reporting role; you will dive into legacy systems, modernize the tech stack, and create a streamlined, professional accounting function that supports both current operations and future growth.
Core Summary of Responsibilities
- Systems & ERP Transformation: Evaluate current technology and lead the implementation of a new ERP/GL system to provide real-time, integrated data.
- Financial & Operational Oversight: Manage the full-cycle accounting process (GL, AP/AR, Payroll, Month-End Close) for multiple business units, ensuring GAAP compliance.
- Strategic Advisory & M&A: Partner with leadership on due diligence for new acquisitions and provide "board-ready" financial analysis for investment decisions.
- Cash Management & Planning: Own the budgeting process, cash flow forecasting, and banking relationships to ensure long-term stability.
- Process Standardization: Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and mentor team members across various businesses to instill high financial discipline.
Requirements and profile
- The "Systems Builder": You have a passion for taking manual or outdated processes and turning them into automated, scalable systems.
- Technical Authority: 5+ years of experience with deep expertise in double-entry bookkeeping, complex reconciliations, and financial report writing.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: You are comfortable "wearing many hats," shifting easily from deep-dive technical accounting to high-level strategic planning.
- Clear Communicator: You possess the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Credentials: Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or equivalent is highly preferred.
