Job Description

Controller

Our client is a dynamic holding company overseeing a diverse group of established small businesses. We are seeking an entrepreneurial Controller to serve as the "Financial Architect" for the organization. This isn't just a reporting role; you will dive into legacy systems, modernize the tech stack, and create a streamlined, professional accounting function that supports both current operations and future growth.

Core Summary of Responsibilities

  • Systems & ERP Transformation: Evaluate current technology and lead the implementation of a new ERP/GL system to provide real-time, integrated data.
  • Financial & Operational Oversight: Manage the full-cycle accounting process (GL, AP/AR, Payroll, Month-End Close) for multiple business units, ensuring GAAP compliance.
  • Strategic Advisory & M&A: Partner with leadership on due diligence for new acquisitions and provide "board-ready" financial analysis for investment decisions.
  • Cash Management & Planning: Own the budgeting process, cash flow forecasting, and banking relationships to ensure long-term stability.
  • Process Standardization: Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and mentor team members across various businesses to instill high financial discipline.

Requirements and profile

  • The "Systems Builder": You have a passion for taking manual or outdated processes and turning them into automated, scalable systems.
  • Technical Authority: 5+ years of experience with deep expertise in double-entry bookkeeping, complex reconciliations, and financial report writing.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: You are comfortable "wearing many hats," shifting easily from deep-dive technical accounting to high-level strategic planning.
  • Clear Communicator: You possess the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Credentials: Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Why This Role?

This position offers the variety of a consulting career with the stability of an in-house leadership seat. You will have direct access to ownership and a significant voice in the company’s expansion.

Benefits:

  • Health: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision.
  • Future: 401(k) Retirement Plan.
  • Balance: Generous PTO and a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture.
