Controller

Our non-profit client is looking for a hybrid Controller in Seattle!

Position Summary

The Controller is a key leadership role responsible for managing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting principles, and supporting the organization’s strategic goals. Reporting to the COO, the Controller will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, accounting systems, and budget management while supervising the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting operations, including month-end close and reconciliation.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, and key performance reports.
  • Oversee compliance with tax and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Lead the annual audit process as the primary liaison to external auditors.
  • Partner with leadership on budget creation, financial forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Maintain and improve internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise and support the finance team, ensuring professional growth and excellence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on grant proposals and financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • CPA certification or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of financial management experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Expertise in GAAP and restricted fund accounting.
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., MIP) and MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits
A competitive salary range of $115,000-$135,000, based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including:
