Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to join their finance team in our construction company. The Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting and financial processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, a deep understanding of project costing, and the ability to provide strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of financial accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and general ledger.
  • Oversee project accounting, including cost tracking, budgeting, and revenue recognition for construction projects.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, for management and stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial data and performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting process, including forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and manage the preparation of tax returns and filings.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional service providers as needed.
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financing activities to support the company's operations and growth.
  • Lead and mentor finance team members, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Years of experience in financial management, with a focus on construction accounting and project costing.
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing, WIP (work in progress), and revenue recognition.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; experience with construction-specific software such as is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to upholding ethical standards.
