Contracting Specialist
The Contracting Specialist reports to the Contracts Manager and assists with the execution, development, negotiations and evaluations of contracts on behalf of the company while ensuring that both parties are in compliance with the terms of the contract, as well as ensuring that all contracts abide by local and federal law including FAR and DFARS clauses. The Contracting Specialist will support the development of NDA/TA/PIA and coordinate with DRG legal as requested and is responsible for performing contract assignments in support of Corporate contract/procurement activities including the audit/review process. The Contracting Specialist will work in collaboration with program operations to effectively administer the contract and communicate with DRG customers to ensure contract requirements are met and has the authority to perform day-to-day activities while ensuring appropriate management stays informed.
Essential Duties of the Position
- Daily administration of subcontracts and contracts including, but not limited to, contract set-up and close-out, contract modifications and maintenance of contract files (electronic and hard copy where needed)
- Support transition in/out of new/terminating work as needed.
- Communicate effectively with customers to ensure contract requirements are being met by both parties and briefing management on any issues.
- Facilitate resolution of contract issues with Contracts Manager, legal, program management and contracting parties as necessary
- Input and maintain documents such as: contract amendments (i.e. MODS), track financial information, correspondence, reports, and CDRLs for multiple contracts.
- Prepare reports and other items that require executive level signature.
- Complete projects in accordance with deadlines without constant supervision
- Work with proposals team or program management team to assist with and provide information necessary to propose new work scope.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills.
- Basic understanding of the CFR, FAR and/or DFARS
- Experience working with government contracts and interpreting flow down clauses.
- Must possess ability to administer several projects independently and concurrently, with ongoing changes in priority.
- Must possess ability to think independently and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Must possess strong P/C computer skills (MS Office)
- Must have the ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to support legal, program management, and executive management.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field of study. Strong editing and grammatical skills for customer communications and contribution to written proposal responses. Experience with DoD prime contracts and subcontracts efforts. Legal expertise is preferred.
