SUMMARY
Provide technical expertise to the enhancement of manufacturing capabilities and processes to produce quality products at the most competitive price. Develop lean training and the coordination of continuous improvement activity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and coordinate plant continuous improvement activities which will support the identification and implementation of effective solutions that will improve safety, quality, delivery, and costs.
Train, develop, manage, and lead a cross functional team of lean practitioners.
Develop and provide lean training, coordinate Kaizen activities to include; value stream mapping, 5S, standardized work, line balancing, visual controls, report outs, environmental / safety approval as necessary, etc. in effort to support this objective. Also, develop appropriate tacking mechanism to measure improvement and success.
Develop plans to successfully complete the projects in a timely and cost-effective manner by assuring all appropriate involvement and information from customers, engineering, tooling, quality and production are considered in the planning stages and activities.
Maintain and or ensure all appropriate documentation is updated; this includes, DMS / PDS sheets, process and quality documents, run rates, TS and ISO certification requirements, safety, and training task lists.
Assist in the resolution of production problems by acting as a troubleshooter on all the existing processes at the assigned facility and/or department as need arises; supervisor will notify.
Self development of lean manufacturing; this includes, formal coursework as well as outside seminars, participation in appropriate outside workshops, and familiarity of the latest lean tools and techniques.
Develop and implement employee training on new processes and equipment with documentation to assure optimum operation and employee safety.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 3-5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, general business periodicals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and lead a team.
Ability to develop project plans; coordinate projects; communicates changes and progress; completes projects on time and budget; effectively manages project team activities.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; participates in meetings. Presents numerical data effectively.
Green or Black Belt Certification is preferred.
