Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Glendale has an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Manager. Reporting to the Division Manager (DM), the successful incumbent is a participating member of the divisional management team. They will be responsible for developing and leading a training program as well as drive short-term and long term operational improvements at the site, and close gaps to comply with Magellan Operating System (MOS™) as prescribed by Magellan’s corporate office. The Continuous Improvement manager will develop and support new employee on-board training and develop and lead a training program to support operations and drive a continuous improvement culture for productivity gains.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a business training program to include new employee orientation as well as operational process improvement. A new employee orientation-training plan will be developed with support from Human Resources and respective Operations department using methods of culture-appropriate team building, team energizing, data gathering and analysis to develop the training material.
  • Participate in Quality Clinic meetings to understand quality issues. Develop appropriate training materials, to be used by operation supervisors to support improvement of the operational processes.
  • Seek and evaluates MOS information, materials, and methods to match specific organizational needs as outlined by management, and adapts them to meet corporate goals.
  • Develop, improve and manage the site 6S program using the corporate 6S guidelines. Responsibilities include compiling and reporting site 6s scorecard to corporate on a monthly basis.
  • Develop reports of overall training activities including 6S and MOS scores, operational accomplishments, training activities and anticipated training needs to improve site operational performance.
  • Coordinate with related departments and functions to assure appropriate training to improve flow and improve overall process effectiveness.
  • Support Corporate MOS auditing and CI activities at other Magellan sites
  • Perform all other related and compatible duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years developing and leading employee training and continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Foundry experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/activities
  • Proven capability to lead change in a team environment.
  • Operations or Product engineering experience
  • Influential, inspiring and persuasive
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in WORD, EXCEL, Outlook, Power Point and Visio
  • Experienced Lean and Six Sigma trainer and mentor
  • Multiple years of related professional and Supervisory/Managerial experience
