Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Consumer Loan Department, including direct and indirect lending, underwriting support, staff development, and loan quality. Provides leadership, coaching, and training to the lending team while ensuring efficient operations, compliance, and exceptional member service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Consumer Loan Department, including direct and indirect lending.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Loan Department staff through ongoing training, performance feedback, and career development.
  • Serve as a senior underwriter with approval authority for consumer, home equity, mortgage, direct, and indirect loans.
  • Monitor loan workflow, production, underwriting quality, and turnaround times to ensure efficient processing.
  • Review loan decisions, provide underwriting guidance, and assist with complex loan exceptions and member concerns.
  • Support the development and implementation of consumer lending programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote cross-selling of credit union products and services while supporting loan growth goals.
  • Analyze lending reports, production trends, and portfolio performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all lending regulations, policies, and quality standards.
  • Partner with other departments to improve processes, enhance member service, and support organizational goals.
  • Conduct staff meetings, complete performance evaluations, and recognize employee achievements.
  • Monitor market trends and competitive loan products to help maintain a competitive lending program
