General Construction Worker

Position Summary

A Houston-based General Contractor is seeking dependable General Construction Workers to support commercial and general construction projects throughout the Houston area. This is an indefinite contract position requiring on-site work. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, physically capable, reliable, and comfortable performing a variety of construction-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Assist skilled tradespeople and construction supervisors with daily project activities.
Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.
Perform general site cleanup and remove debris.
Prepare work areas by installing barriers, signage, and protective materials.
Use basic hand and power tools safely.
Assist with demolition, material installation, measuring, digging, and other general labor duties.
Follow project plans and instructions provided by the superintendent or foreman.
Comply with all jobsite safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, and jobsite incidents immediately.
Perform other construction-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Previous construction or general labor experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.
Dependable transportation to Houston-area jobsites.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to pass any required background check, drug screening, or site-specific onboarding.
OSHA 10 certification is preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of construction tools and jobsite safety is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including Houston heat and humidity.
Ability to work around dust, noise, construction equipment, and active jobsite conditions.
Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety vest, and work boots.

Schedule

On-site work at construction projects throughout the Houston area.
Schedule may vary depending on project requirements.
Candidates must be available for full-time hours, with possible overtime, early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.

Compensation

$17.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
This is an indefinite contract assignment. The duration of work will depend on project needs, performance, and workload.
