About the Role
Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Advisor supports the coordination and delivery of communications initiatives that advance the organization’s mandate and strategic priorities. This role works closely with senior communications leadership to support the implementation of communications plans and ensure activities are delivered in a clear, consistent, and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the coordination and implementation of internal and external communications plans, initiatives, and campaigns aligned with organizational priorities.
- Coordinate the development of communications materials including social media content, web content, presentations, and background materials.
- Work closely with senior communications team members to translate key messages into coordinated content and deliverables.
- Support the planning and execution of communications activities for public engagements, announcements, national initiatives, and special projects.
- Coordinate timelines, workflows, approvals, and deliverables across multiple projects to ensure timely completion.
- Review and edit communications materials to ensure clarity, consistency, accessibility, and alignment with tone and messaging.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support content development across digital platforms, including social media, web, and multimedia channels.
- Monitor digital engagement and communications performance, identifying opportunities to improve reach and effectiveness.
- Support coordination with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and timely delivery of communications activities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of communications tools, templates, and processes to improve consistency and efficiency.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, media, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in communications, digital media, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, accessible, and engaging content.
- Experience supporting communications coordination, project delivery, or content development across multiple initiatives.
- Proven ability to review and edit content for clarity, consistency, and alignment with messaging.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with digital communications tools, including social media platforms and content management systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Canada as required.
Assets
- Experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, or initiatives.
- Bilingualism in English and French.
- Experience with graphic design or video editing tools.
Salary
$75,000 – $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
