Job Title: Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk
Location: Downtown Ottawa (Hybrid)
Salary: $60,000 – $80,000, based on experience

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk to join our dynamic national Commercial Real Estate team. You will work alongside experienced lawyers, paraprofessionals, and legal support staff to deliver exceptional service to our clients, while continuing to develop your expertise in real estate law within Canada’s premier full-service law firm.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist lawyers with commercial real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, and financing matters

    • Conduct, review, and report on title and off-title searches and other real estate due diligence

    • Liaise with the land registry office and address procedural and title issues in real-time

    • Manage and organize portfolio transactions, coordinating with multiple stakeholders

    • Draft key documents including requisitions, closing documents, transaction books, and final reports

    • Support matter and data management, including scoping, budgeting, and tracking

    • Collaborate as an integral team member, maintaining a commitment to excellent client service

    Key Competencies:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk

    • Knowledge of Registry, Land Titles, and Polaris systems for both paper-based and electronic land registration

    • Experience with electronic database filings

    • Community College Law Clerk Diploma or Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario Certificate (or equivalent)

    • Strong computer and electronic document skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

    • Professional demeanor with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to process a high volume of documentation with excellent attention to detail

    • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence

    • Bilingual (French) reading and writing abilities considered an asset
