Our Disputes Commercial & Construction team is recruiting for a resourceful individual with a growth mindset that can help solve for today while building for the future.
You will be a key member of a dynamic group of lawyers, law clerks and legal support staff, providing the highest level of service to our clients, while having the opportunity to cultivate your skills as part of our successful national Disputes Commercial & Construction Group, within Canada’s premier full-service law firm.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

  • Work with top-tier Disputes Commercial & Construction Group professionals that help clients navigate significant situations
  • Play a critical role in assisting our lawyers with matters relating to all aspects of commercial, construction and estate litigation
  • Participate in drafting pleadings, document production, the discovery process, preparing motions, mediation briefs, pre-trial briefs, costs outlines and preparing for hearings and trials, preparing estate applications before the Court (such as Orders for Directions) and assisting with file management of large, complex matters.
  • Be responsible for matter management and data management, including scoping and budgeting
  • Contribute as an important member of the team and provide an unwavering commitment to delivering excellent client service
  • Work as member of a collaborative team to mentor and share your knowledge with students, associates and junior law clerks

Key Competencies

  • 10+ years’ experience in a Law Clerk role with a focus on commercial and construction litigation
  • Experience preparing passing of accounts and/or estate administration is an asset
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • College Law Clerk Diploma or Institute of Law Clerks Ontario Certificate.
  • University degree is an asset
  • Knowledge of iManage, Case Center (formerly CaseLines), ACL, Relativity, Kofax PDF, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative and expertise to drive highly effective file management and seek direction when appropriate
  • High level organization and time management skills
  • A strong work ethic with a collaborative and growth mindset
