Commercial Lease Accountant- On-site daily. Central Houston.

Our client is a full-service real estate firm that owns and manages a retail, industrial and office portfolio, serving hundreds of national, regional, and local tenants.

The Commercial Lease Accountant will be responsible for abstracting lease documents, analyzing lease terms, and all accounting activities on assigned properties including CAM, Tax and Insurance reconciliations. Exercises considerable discretion and independent judgment in managing the flow of work within the area of responsibility.

Responsibilities will Include:

• Review lease agreements and set up new lease records in Yardi to include setting up the operating expense recovery schedules and communicating with different internal teams to ensure appropriate lease terms/amounts are input accurately
• Process tenants move-in and move-outs in Yardi
• Calculate annual CAM, property tax and insurance recoveries
• Make all necessary journal entries and review/analyze financial statements for accuracy monthly
• Perform cash management functions including but not limited to monitoring cash balances and reconciling bank accounts.
• Work closely with Leasing and Property Management to prepare annual budgets
• Calculation and payment of monthly management fees
• Review and ensure Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable are processed correctly
• Assist with special projects with guidance from Accounting Manager

Minimum Requirements:
Two or more years full charge booking/accounting experience in commercial real estate.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Real Estate software experience. Yardi Voyager preferred but not necessary.
Must be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
