Job Description
Our client is a vertically integrated FMCG business who is looking to hire a Commercial Director. The Commercial Director will be responsible for overseeing all commercial activities related to the distribution and franchising of their products. The role involves developing and executing strategies to grow the brand, build a strong distribution network, ensure customer satisfaction, and drive revenue growth. The Commercial Director will also lead the sales and marketing teams, work closely with distributors, and ensure the financial success of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the overall commercial strategy for the company, including sales, marketing, and distribution channels.
  • Identify market opportunities and work with the CEO to expand the company’s presence in new and existing markets.
Franchise Development and Management
  • Lead the development of a sustainable franchise model for distribution via mobile food carts.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and support of franchisees to ensure consistent operational quality and brand standards.
  • Build strong relationships with franchisees, providing ongoing support and guidance to ensure franchisee success.
Sales and Marketing Management
  • Drive sales initiatives and market penetration strategies, ensuring a strong brand presence in key territories.
  • Lead the development of marketing campaigns, promotional activities, and customer engagement strategies to increase sales and brand awareness.
  • Manage the development of sales materials, online content, and other resources to support sales efforts
Financial Management
  • Develop sales forecasts and budgets for the commercial division
  • Monitor sales performance and profitability, ensuring that financial targets are met
  • Analyze data and KPIs to continuously improve sales and marketing effectiveness, adjusting strategies as needed.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery
  • Identify and address customer needs, feedback, and issues to improve product offerings and overall customer experience.
Distribution Network Management
  • Build and manage a robust distribution network for mobile food carts, ensuring smooth operations and product supply.
  • Work with logistics teams to manage inventory, supply chain,and distribution channels efficiently.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing commercial team across sales, marketing, and franchise operations.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
  • Must have at least 8 years of experience in commercial leadership roles, with a proven track record in sales, marketing, or business development.
  • Experience in franchise management or managing distribution networks is highly desirable.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and franchisees.
  • A deep understanding of the Ghanaian food and beverage market, particularly the street food and quick- service sectors.
