Combustible Dust Safety Consultant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Combustible Dust Safety Consultant to join our Engineering and Design team. This role involves assessing and mitigating risks associated with combustible dust hazards in various industrial environments. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in engineering and fire protection, with a focus on improving workplace safety and compliance. The position includes significant opportunities for professional growth through leading training sessions and developing safety procedures for our diverse clientele.

Salary: Depending on Experience per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed field surveys to identify processes that may pose combustible dust hazards.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of existing dust control measures and conduct sampling of dust for comprehensive testing.
  • Create and implement detailed dust hazard mitigation plans tailored to client-specific needs.
  • Design and conduct specialized training courses on dust hazards to educate clients and improve their onsite safety protocols.
  • Engage in regular domestic travel, approximately 30%-40% of the time, to conduct onsite evaluations and training sessions.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Fire Protection, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in process safety management, specifically with combustible dust.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to assess risks and devise effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and training skills; ability to lead educational sessions for various stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly advantageous.
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Extensive experience in industrial safety within sectors known for high dust production.

Skills:

  • Proficient in the use of analytic and assessment tools necessary for dust sampling and hazard analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Capability to develop and implement strategic plans and solutions in collaboration with team members and clients.
