Job Title: Escrow Officer
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:
The Escrow Officer is responsible for managing real estate closings from beginning to end, acting as a neutral party between buyers, sellers, lenders, and realtors. This role ensures all escrow and title requirements are met, documents are accurately prepared and recorded, and funds are properly disbursed. The Escrow Officer maintains compliance with all regulations, delivers excellent customer service, and upholds company policies throughout the transaction process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide all parties (buyers, sellers, lenders, realtors) through the escrow process professionally and clearly

  • Prepare, review, and process escrow and title documents for closing

  • Clear title issues and coordinate with underwriters as needed

  • Balance and disburse escrow funds according to contract and legal requirements

  • Schedule and facilitate closing appointments, including document signing and notarization

  • Ensure all documents are properly recorded with the appropriate county offices

  • Issue closing protection letters and other title-related documents

  • Maintain regular communication with all parties to keep them informed

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies

  • Prepare status reports for escrow accounts and provide updates to stakeholders

  • Perform additional administrative tasks and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, finance, or real estate is a plus

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in escrow, title, or real estate transactions

  • Notary public commission or ability to obtain within 90 days

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with escrow software (such as SoftPro) preferred

  • Strong organizational, mathematical, and document review skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work both independently and as part of a team

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills

  • Customer-focused, professional, and positive attitude
